Organisational Accountabilities.

All employees have general organisational responsibilities that are outlined in the following policies and procedures:

 Other relevant policies will be provided during an employee's induction to Council.

 

Conditions of Employment

Staff not designated as 'Senior Staff' under the Local Government Act 1993 are covered by the Local Government (State) Award 2010. Some of the key working conditions include:

Hours of Work

Generally the standard working week is 35 hours per week for full Salaried Staff and 38 hours per week for Field Staff.Rostered Days Off (RDO's)

Council provides RDOs for full time staff in accordance with various site arrangements. Generally, staff are able to work an extra period of time each day to allow for one RDO every three weeks.

Sick Leave/Carers Leave

3 weeks per annum cumulative

Annual Leave

4 weeks per annum accumulated over a period of 12 months.

Long Service Leave

After 5 years continuous services, employees are entitled of 6.5 weeks long service leave.

Parental Leave

Parental Leave allows employees to take time away from work for the birth or adoption of a child. Parental Leave encompasses several types of complimentary entitlements, including, Paid Parental Leave, Maternity, Concurrent Parental Leave and Adoption Leave.

Superannuation

 9% of your weekly gross pay is paid into superannuation.

Training and Development

Council offers a wide range of training and development opportunities. In addition, fee refunds and examination leave may be available if study is undertaken that is appropriate to the staff member's position with Council. This requires prior application as per Council's Educational Assistance Policy.

Children's Services Workplace Agreement

Staff employed in Children's Services are covered by our Children's Services Workplace Agreement which offers generous benefits including extra leave provisions and Rostered Days Off.
